A crystal skull is discovered in an archaeological dig in Peru in 1895 and over the course of years it finds its way to Phoenix, Arizona. Benjamin Goldman is a lonely common man who passes through life with almost obscure vagueness. This begin to change when be becomes the sole beneficiary of a substantial fortune. Benjamin visits the Phoenix Museum on his lunch break one day and in a faint display room he becomes mesmerized by a crystal skull. Once exposed to the skull he visits the museum every day to sit and contemplate this perfect work of art. One day he finds "his bench" occupied by one who he considers an interloper and what ensues is a tender story where mild resentment evolved into love.
